I'm very happy to announce that Therapy Tales and I have created a new Flickr group, Draw What You Read. Founded after we discovered a mutual love for drawing the piles of books that accumulate in our lives, we wondered if we might not be alone....so please, explore, join, and share your drawings of the books that you're reading. We'd love to see them!
My latest contributions are these, five books that changed my life:
The Amber Spyglass opened my mind beyond the church in which I grew up.
Blankets convinced me that the graphic novel was the format I needed to tell my story.
The Red Tree inspired me to change paths and follow my childhood dream of becoming an illustrator.
Eating in the Light of the Moon was the most gentle and helpful book I read in my recovery from eating disorders.
A Language Older Than Words encompasses so much, drawing parallels between physical and sexual abuse of one person by another to humanity's abuse of the planet. It is beautifully written and inspiring. And utterly unique.
What are your favourite/most influential books? Please draw them for us!
