Hello Fifi, thank you once again for allowing me the opportunity to review a wonderfully written book with beautifully photographed pictures of French homes in various regions of France.
It is truly a pleasure to be writing a book review on a book I found to be so breathtaking and inspiring. Each page is a work of art with gorgeous vignettes placed in the homes of more than 30 exemplary European homes and apartments, each one a wonderful example of how mixing the practical and modern with the faded grandeur of period pieces from the Roccoco style of the eighteenth century.
This book displays every style from mixing the simple, natural, folk art preference of Sweden, to a more ornate and modern style mixed with plexiglas and a Gustavian bench and chest of drawers with trompe l’oeil guilded wood and marketry dating from the 1940. There are 18 and 19 century furniture pieces that have been repatinated in the old style with gorgeous old objects of arts lovingly placed in just the right place. This is just a small peek into this very LARGE book that will be a very valuable resource book for those of us who are trying to rediscover a new way of looking at French décor by adding the faded and worn with the modern.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. I have found myself going back again and again to look through all of the homes, apartments, and vignettes. This book has many gorgeous photographs and a beautifully written text, a book to be left out and perused again and again.
I would rate this book 10 out of 10 stars**********A keeper for sure.
Kris' Shop La Petite Boutique de Perles carries some pretty items that would easily fit in this book!
